Brazil With Mor Solar Energy: New Solar Energy Plant Coremas III

Go Eco Green21, This week Brazil has inaugurated the new Coremas III solar plant, a solar energy complex located in the municipality of Coremas, in Paraíba. The venture contributes to expanding the supply of clean and renewable energies in the country.

The Minister of Mines and Energy, Bento Albuquerque, pointed out that one of the guidelines of the Federal Government is to seek the use of clean energy sources and the protection of the environment. He also said that Brazil is an example for the world in terms of sustainability in the generation of electricity.

“Our clean and renewable sources represent 85% of Brazilian electricity generation, while the world average is 24%. This is a source of pride for all Brazilians and encourages us even more to always seek to serve the consumer with sustainable resources and with a low emission of greenhouse gases ”, said Bento Albuquerque speaking at the event. A report carried by Go Eco Green21 highlights that the Coremas project, which is in its third phase, belongs to the private group Rio Alto Energias Renováveis. According to the Ministry of Mines and Energy, the project is equivalent to approximately 1,100 soccer fields with solar modules. Currently, there are 280,000 solar panels in operation with the capacity to serve 90,000 homes. When the complex is completed in June 2021, there will be 700,000 solar panels capable of serving up to 300,000 homes.

Bento Albuquerque highlighted the Northeast’s potential for renewable energy production. “Speaking of renewable sources, the Northeast region stands out for its extraordinary contribution to solar and wind sources, sources that today represent around 11% of our generation capacity and will be 25% in 2030”, said the minister.

According to the minister, 56% of the forecast for the expansion of electricity generation capacity until 2026 will be made in the Northeast, mostly from solar and wind sources, which will mean investments of R $ 26 billion.

Those present, Minister Bento Albuquerque, spoke about the measures adopted by the government to promote the adoption and development of renewable energy sources. Among them, the tax exemption for imports of solar energy equipment, which will increase the competitiveness of this type of source. In June of this year, a decree was published that encourages environmentally sustainable infrastructure projects through green bonds. “The measure facilitates the financing, through the capital market, of wind, solar, small hydroelectric and biomass plants and also contributes to greater competitiveness of renewable sources and the consequent reduction in generation prices,” he explained.

Energy efficiency
During the ceremony, President Bolsonaro and the officials present lit the 106,343 light bulb, which symbolizes the Energy Efficiency Program. Paraíba has already benefited from 91 projects. Together, they resulted in savings of more than 130,000 megawhatts of electricity. Between 2019 and 2020, 37 projects were executed with approximately R $ 17 million in investments, generating energy savings of 9 thousand megawatts.
