Over the last 5 years, solar energy has increase its presence and profitability, due to three essential factors: the collapse of international prices for solar technology, new laws and regulatory frameworks (political will) and favorable natural conditions. According to data from the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), solar energy is the renewable source that generates the most jobs globally. The figure is estimated at more than 3.6 million jobs.
A report carreid by Energía Limpia XXI states that according to the prestigious Mexican Solar Energy Association (ASOLMEX), at a time when the country has lost more than one million jobs due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the new renewable energy projects have potential to generate jobs for more than 30 thousand people throughout the country.
Mexico ranks 12th in the world ranking of countries with the highest CO2 emissions. To date, solar energy has contribute to save 8 million 400 thousand tons of carbon dioxide. Currently the country has 69 solar power plants throughout the country.
